Looking out from the trailhead
Las Vegas, Nevada always has a a particular draw for me, the lights, the flashy banners, big hotels, food, and entertainment as far as the eye can see. I think the tag line “What happens in Vegas STAYS in Vegas” provides a little to much draw to act in a way that normally would scare small children, but it seems to do the job for the state tourist advertising, and Hey!… who am I to judge. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it down to Vegas to indulge myself in the aforementioned activities or items. My trip this time took me as far as Logandale, NV, and to be honest I would rather be riding my ATV.
Logandale, NV is a small town a few miles east of the i-15 corridor, it is one of the last little towns you pass through to get into the “Valley of Fire Nevada State Park” which I recommend if you are just passing through and don’t have time for an ATV ride. In Logandale they have what they call “Logandale Trails”. Being just outside of the Valley of Fire Nevada State Park there are some tremendous views, some gnarly crawls, and some really exhilarating flash flood washes.
Let me start with the wash area. As I ride down these washes I can’t help my overactive imagination to slip into a course of Hollywood movie car chases, Darting in and out of traffic, high marking the berms, running from your buddy that’s gaining on you. HA! cars… I meant jet dogfights… sorry did I mention my overactive imagination?
The rock crawling was awesome too, I can’t compare it to a Moab trip but there were planty of rocks out there to barrel over and get that gripping thrill on your nearly vertical ATV. (be careful)
As for the views, you can see from the main picture that they were pretty breathtaking. You might say the “Valley of Fire” is appropriate since it seems to be nothing but Nevada desert and rock, but I loved how the rock forms look like fingers of fire from some giant desert blaze.

Looks like a lot of fun! I went riding in Nevada last fall and really enjoyed it. Now I know somewhere else to ride when I go back!
